Several people drown on their way to a better life

Last Sunday, another 11 people drowned in a new capsizing accident. The 11 people were on their way to Greece and Europe, among them were six children.

Another capsizing has found place outside the Greek island Lesbos. 11 people died and 15 were saved, 10 of the drowned were found in the cabin of the boat and the last girl was washed up on the coast. In the last week 49 died on their way to a better life. The refugees are from war-stricken Syria. They manage to come to Turkey, but many of them want to continue to Europe to build up a new life.

Last Friday, 22 people drowned trying to live their dream, and last Wednesday 16 people drowned. However, these two days, 418 people were saved as well. The autumn weather makes it dangerous to sail, which is reflected in the number of accidents.

According to Reuters, you can get your ‘’ticket’’ to Greece at half price if you travel in bad weather, some refugees say.
The trip costs about between 1100 and 1400 euro in a worn wooden boat, but with a more sturdy boat, it costs between 1800 and 2500 euro, according to UN’s refugee agency.

Since the beginning of year 2015, 580,125 migrants have reached the Greece coasts. Overall, about 723,000 people have made it to Europe by boat, according to UN's refugee agency A Syrian family have tried this by themselves. Nancy Ahmed was told that, if she left now, she could get the trip at half the price of what it would cost tomorrow, she says to BBC. The family survived but the boat, which left an hour later, capsized and the 11 people drowned..
